Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer With Us

Riley’s Rescue of Brevard is always accepting volunteer applications. We need help in all sorts of areas including events, marketing, administration, hands on with the dogs, and everything in between! We would love to have you join our team!

Foster

Being a foster parent for a dog in need is one of the greatest, most selfless things one can do. All that is required from you is your time and love. Riley’s Rescue of Brevard provides all necessities, and covers medical costs while a pet is in your care. We would love to save as many animals as we can, but we need a place for them to go in order to take them in.

Want to help but just not sure what you would like to do?

Here are some of our teams at the rescue!

Intake

Routinely monitors the rescue’s surrender email for any new surrender applications. Intake communicates with the person surrendering to gather more information. Intake is then responsible for reaching out to the board for approval. Intake works closely with marketing (for courtesy posts), foster, and medical. They also must ensure proper documentation is filled out for the animal, and enter information into our system.

“Paws on the Dogs”

This is where all the fun happens! If you are wanting to work with dogs, this is the place for you! Being a part of this team could include bathing dogs, cleaning kennels, walking dogs, working with dogs on their specific needs to help them succeed, providing transportation, and more! This can also involve assisting with home checks, meet and greets, doggy introductions, and outings with the dogs.

“Paws on the Dogs” team members must have prior experience with dog handling. We are always looking for knowledgable dog lovers to join our team! Additional training is required.

Marketing

Marketing requires a decent amount of computer knowledge, and lots of creativity! Marketing works behind the scenes in the rescue to create eye catching fliers for events, as well as creating content for social media. We work closely with the “Paws on the Dogs” team to capture photos and videos of adoptable dogs/animals, and get them adopted! We also maintain communication with all of the other teams, to ensure everyones messages are being heard by our community. We are always brainstorming new marketing ideas to really get the Riley’s Rescue of Brevard name out there!

Adoption

The adoption team is responsible for screening any adoption applications that come through. This team needs to call the applicant, screen vet records, set up a home check for the applicant, and work with the foster team to set up a meet and greet if needed. We work closely with the “Paws on the Dogs” team, organizing meet and greets and transportation! A bit of organization and enjoying talking with the public is needed.

Medical

The medical team works very closely with the foster team, and the intake team. We are in charge of staying on top of all of our current pet’s medical needs, and ensuring they are up to date on all shots. The medical team also receives and uploads all medical files into our system. We also work closely with the “Paws on the Dogs” team, organizing transportation to vet appointments!

Events and Fundraising

The Events and Fundraising team is where a lot of the excitement happens! This team is routinely searching for new events in the area for the rescue to make an appearance at. We are always brainstorming new ways to receive donations from the public. The team is also responsible for keeping an events calendar going, and organizing any events we have planned. We work very closely with the volunteer coordinator to ensure we have enough volunteers for the events. We also work closely with the marketing team to ensure we are getting our messages out to the public!

What you can do:

  • Fund an event!

  • Help run an event

  • Help to recruit and manage volunteers

  • Find new volunteers for needed roles

  • Manage emails/communication with volunteers

  • Contribute with a donation, such as gift baskets for raffles, items to sell, or display items (help us decorate the table/tent!)

Foster

The foster team is in charge of screening new foster applicants. We are also in charge of ensuring the best placement for new pets, to make sure they end up in the foster homes that suit their needs best. The foster team also checks in on current fosters to ensure things are going well, and to make sure they have everything they need. We work closely with Intake, Adoption, and the Medical team! We also work closely with the “Paws on the Dogs” team, organizing meet and greets and transportation. This is mainly a “behind the scenes” position, and requires a fair amount of organization and computer knowledge.
